November 3, 20206--Barbara Blakey
As the title of a popular children’s book implies, mistakes don’t have to be disastrous. God is faithful to take our “oops” and transform them into something beautiful. We'll take a look at how our fear of failure, of not measuring up, has a paralyzing effect on our lives and discover ways of overcoming that fear to be all God intends us to be. Barbara Tifft Blakey
and her husband Terry live on five wooded acres outside Olympia,
Washington, where they’ve been married for over fifty years. During
their homeschooling years, she created Total Language Plus,
an award‑winning, literature‑inspired language arts curriculum—used by
homeschoolers and private Christian schools for over three decades.
Barbara is an active Sunday school and women’s Bible class teacher and
speaker. A devoted grandmother of eight and mother of four, she enjoys
camping by the ocean, volunteering in the kitchen at Pleasant Valley
Christian Camp (near Mt. Rainier), and cheering for the Seattle
Sounders. Her published fiction includes Bertie’s War, A Place to Belong, Emma Underground, Christmas Stars, and The Angel of Second Street. She is represented by Tamela Hancock Murray. | November 12, 7pm PST, Deep POV Workshop
Join us for Dori Harrell's upcoming workshop: Deep POV: Immerse Your Readers in Your Characters Deep POV is a narrative style that immerses readers directly into a character's inner world while also writing in third person. Deep POV filters the story through the character's thoughts, emotions, and sensations, and avoids terminology commonly found in other POV options. Join Dori as we take a dive into deep POV to bring our storytelling to the next level in this new installment of her “Taming the Beast” workshop series. |
