Do you want to reach the next level in your writing? Come one important step closer to your publishing goals?

Consider a critique by a professional editor!

The following Renewal faculty will be accepting submissions for a fee of $45.

What can you expect in return?

A thorough critique with comments and a follow-up fifteen-minute phone call or zoom session with the faculty member—a valuable opportunity for you to ask any clarifying questions. Choose your faculty member from the list below. Notice that each one has listed which genres they are interested in critiquing. We encourage you to look at their bios and books published to decide which one would be a good fit for your work. 

Format your manuscript as follows:

  • Double-space pages
  • 12-point font
  • One-inch margins all around
  • Page numbers

Limit the size of your submission, see the genre criteria below. If you send more than listed, your manuscript will not be critiqued.

  • All fiction: This includes YA, middle-grade and children’s chapter books as well as adult fiction. One page single-spaced synopsis along with the first nine double-spaced pages of your manuscript. Ten pages total.
  • Non-fiction: First ten pages of manuscript, all double-spaced. You may include 2-3 pages of outline in your ten pages if you wish. Ten pages total.
  • Devotions, Articles, Blogs: You may send up to three, each no more than three pages, all double-spaced. Nine pages total.
  • Picture Books:  Full manuscript.

You will submit your manuscript to the critique editor by email when notified.  In re: line write "Renewal 2024 Critique Submission

Submissions open on January 1, 2024

You will be contacted via email with directions for how to submit your manuscript.

On the conference registration form you will be asked to indicate the editor you’d like as a reviewer. Payment for the critique will be collected as part of your registration payment.  We have only a limited number of openings, so be sure to register early while there's still a chance to take advantage of this special feature

Genres accepted: All fiction, specializes in middle grade, teen and YA fiction.

Genres accepted: All fiction, but particularly speculative and YA.
