Want to write an article for the newsletter?

Article Guidelines

The Northwest Christian Author is a bimonthly newsletter dedicated to the cause of excellence in writing. Its audience is the members of the Northwest Christian Writers Association (NCWA) and other Christian writers.

What to write for the Northwest Christian Author:

Articles regarding writing (reprints accepted):

  • How-to, fiction and nonfiction
  • Writing techniques
  • Business of writing
  • Motivational (occasionally)
  • Marketing updates and trends

Your article should:

  • Be concise, tightly written, using active verbs, with no clichés.
  • Be a complete manuscript, 600 to 1,000 words. Include a two- or three-sentence author bio. The newsletter itself is not copyrighted, so include your copyright notice with your bio.
  • Contain accurate references and quotations, with a copy of the source material included. Remember to provide the name of the translation for Bible references.
  • Include written permission to use copyrighted material, if necessary.

The format of your manuscript:

  • Electronic submissions can be accepted after an e-mail query. Attached files should be in MS Word.
  • Type your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address in the upper left-hand corner of title page. Type the word count in the upper right-hand corner. Number the pages.

Editing:

The editors reserve the right to revise as needed if your manuscript is accepted.

Payment:

Payment is three copies of the newsletter. You may list your books or writing related services in your bio.

Critique Groups

NCWA has a number of active critique groups meeting around the Puget Sound. Some meet before the monthly NCWA meeting in Bothell and others meet at other times and locations. You must be a member of NCWA to participate. For more information contact Sarah Madson at lifeinwriting@gmail.com.
