Welcome

The primary focus of Northwest Christian Writers' Association (NCWA) is twofold. To seek excellence: Our goal is to support and encourage one another in a noncompetitive environment and to develop excellent, professional writing skills. To seek after God: Our goal is to encourage one another to live Christian lives and to seek His will for our writing.

Our membership draws from the greater Seattle area, and our newsletter reaches writers across the United States. For more information about our group, please browse through our site.

My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. (Psalm 45:1)

NCWA Summer Vacation

NCWA will resume its monthly meetings in September of this year, starting with Monday evening, September 8, 2008. Please bear with us as we revamp our entire website.

Our 2007-2008 year was a great one, filled with informative speakers, effective writing exercises, profitable networking, a hugely successful conference, and nearly 100 new members!

We look forward to seeing you all in the fall for more great fellowship and learning.

Great Reviews from Tiger Marketing

If you did not attend Randy Ingermanson's Tiger Marketing Workshop on October 6, you missed out on incredibly relevant "how-tos" on promoting your writing ministry on the internet.

Deborah Anderson had this to say about the day:

Perspective...........having jumped back into the arena of public teaching (fueled by my writing) it gave me a current perspective on marketing techniques that brought me into the digital age. I'm a social contemplative and an artist; not very digital. I needed to have this information presented to me as a class experience as I would not have put it together in a timely way, if at all, on my own. Having all this information in one concise place gave me a

Gameplan...........now getting my teaching ministry up on it's feet is a matter of a to do list and follow the dots as to packaging and promoting all of which is

Confirmation........that I'm headed in the direction God was leading. The didactic material gave me the underpinnings for where I was going intuitively (by the Holy Spirit).

For me as a Christian, it was nice to have the marketing addressed full on. We so frequently lose that in a "take no cloak with you and recieve what they have to offer and dust your sandals off if you are not received" mentality. I felt Saturday presented us with the option for, as the pastor from the hosting church called it, "Holy Ambition".

Thanks again for a great day!

Now, don't miss our upcoming meeting Monday, November 5 with Chris and Alan Miller. These two brothers grew up in their parent's Christian bookstores, the last one being Grace Books in Auburn and now have a multiple book deal with Warner Press Kids. They will have great insight to share with us!

See you then...

New Season, New Meeting Format

Our members have given us fresh, new ideas for our meetings, so don't be surprised if things aren't the way you're used to!

The monthly meetings now begin with a "Write Start" segment (titled after our NCWA Write Start book). A short writing presentation and exercise to get everyone focused on their writing skills. Member Jim Rubart presented our September Write Start on dialogue, and Board Member Judy Bodmer will present in October.

Informal networking and critiquing is held for a half hour before the meeting starts, from 6:30 to 7:00pm, so our break time is a bit shorter and more focused. And we've announced our Fall Submission Contest...from September to December we will be keeping track of submissions and rejections and awarding the top producer in each category with a $25 gift certificate to the NCWA Book Table.

Don't miss our next meeting coming up Monday, October 1 with Frank Ball, president of North Texas Christian Writers.

See you then!
